SWCP - Day 2 - Padstow to Porthcothan 14 miles - July 8th, 2015

It was a later start today after a late dinner last night. Peter had a fish called John Dory and Francine had turbot with a hollandaise sauce. Both were excellent. Now we understand why Stein’s restaurant is so popular. Our B & B hostess Janet was one in a million. Immaculate rooms, with not a detail missed. Plus she has the perfect personality for her business. We would highly recommend her place. Across the road from the B&B was the church of St Petroc. From there begins a walk called the Saint’s Way. After a short visit we walked around the streets of Padstow, which is a very cute town. Lots of great shops and cafes. We could definitely have spent another day there.
We encountered very strong winds today for the first couple of hours of our walk, especially around Stepper Point. A good thing the wind gusts were coming from the ocean blowing inland instead of the opposite. Lots of dangerous cliffs along the route. Rain threatened most of the morning but the only drizzle we got was while we had lunch inside a cafĂ© at Trevone Bay.  Skies cleared and we had sunshine most of the afternoon. We passed several beautiful beaches at Harlyn Bay, Booby’s Bay, Constantine Bay and Treyarnon Bay as well as many tiny secluded ones. We noticed on a sign that the air temperature was 16 C and the water temp was 14 C. There were loads of people in the water surfing and windsurfing etc… but they all had wet suits on!
Today's path was fairly easy, mostly walking along the tops of the cliffs without the ups and downs of yesterday. We took our time and even stopped for “Cornish” ice cream along the way. We are in Porthcothan for the night, at the only pub around, waiting for the sunset on the beach.
